During WW2 when Norway was under Nazi occupation the Nisse were used as a symbol of resistance to fascism. People wore red hats and exchanged cards with the image of Nisse.
Once again we find ourselves fighting fascism around many parts of the world and in the US some have started knitting or wearing red hats in opposition to Trump.
This is a subtle symbol of resistance and would look great worn at any time of the year at any occasion.
